GRAVITY MOTOR
Hang a suitable weight on the end of the thread and the vertical shaft will rotate. Angle the paddles of the built-in airbrake to control the speed of rotation. Attach simple machines to the drive shaft and let gravity do the work - for a while! This motor works well with animation toys like the zoetrope, fantascope or phenakistoscope!

EDDLESTON CHASSIS
Model vehicle that only travel in a straight line can be a nuisance in a confined space. Here is a simple chassis that can be adjusted to run on a circular path. Notice that all the pieces of wood are glued side by side, avoiding the difficult problem of trying to glue ENDGRAIN. This is the very absorbent surface you get when you cut across the grain of the wood.
Eddleston Primary School is a small village school in the Scottish Borders. It was there that we first developed the Eddleston chassis.
