ONE-STRING FIDDLE
A 'real' tuned instrument is possible using this design. The frame can hold a variety of junk material soundboxes allowing for considerable experimentation. The soundbox (in this case a plastic cup), is kept in place by the pressure of the string on the bridge. This means that each soundbox will need its own bridge. Built as shown there is no easy way to tune the string to another instrument. You would have to design your own system - or play solo!!

ZOETROPE
There probably isn't an easier way to construct the popular animation machine that the one shown here. The picture cards are slotted between two card rings - leave a 3-5 mm gap between each card. This system makes it very easy to experiment with alternative picture cards. Suspended on three threads beneath a light source the zoetrope will spin freely.
